Uh, oh...I just realized that if I wired it the way I just said, it would be on all the time. I have to ground the tab as you have it marked.
The only way the black/white wire would work would be in an 'applied ground' situation. Maybe it works that way on another application like convertibles?
At any rate, the last '68 I had was over 25 years ago...but I do not recall that light coming on with the doors open or any other way except with the switch.
I think that prong is not used.
