Last week I called a parts warehouse I used to deal with and asked if they would check old catalogs for part numbers. I was told that the rebuilder's common number for the Tempest shoes is 193 which they have not stocked or sold for many years. I had no luck in finding 193 shoes anywhere.
I am in the process of rebuilding my wheel cylinders and installing 189 Corvair shoes. Since the cylinders have some pitting, I will probably go enough oversize that the pistons will be too loose, in which case I will make some new pistons.
