Doubt you'll read the following on 301garage. Turbo lights weren't avail at the beginning of '80 production (October into mid Nov of '79). Originally there was going to be an elapsed time in boost/digital clock under vacuum deal that mounted in the back of the hood bulge ornament. This option (UR4) was noted in pre-production '80 ordering literature. Thank goodness that silliness never made onto the cars, it took a lot of work to get respectable straight line performance out of the turbo cars & the silly lights didn't help with any kind of rep on the street..
The turbo light panel first showed up in late Nov on the very first Indy pacecars. Any factory schematic on the production light set=-up is going to be in a service bulletin or in the '81 Pontiac service supplement. The goofy light setup basically involved pressure switches that came off the PEVR block on the intake. The circuit for the medium & high lights used delco's version of a normal closed pressure switch. hit so many lbs of boost the circut was complete & the light went on. In the early to mid 80's I performed performance mods on a bunch of '80 & '81 turbo cars, knocked a bunch of time off their 0-60's. On the later built '80 cars, I always pulled the plate with the lights in it, as we always ran open hood bulge, a modified open 14x3" air cleaner & most importantly needed access to the PEVR block as a vac/boost source for Hobbs & Faria switches along as the vac/boost source for a mechanical autometer boost guage.
