My Dad was a car guy, but a little different from most here. He was more Road & Track than Hot Rod. Given his limited budget though, he was driving quirky imports rather than glamorous exotics. The two that stick in my mind were his favorites- a two stroke Saab 96 and a Volvo 122. He sold the 122 when I was very young, but I recall as an older child, years later,going with him to look at various 122s that he found in the classifieds. Even as an adult he'd tell me of various models he'd seen, especially enthusiastic about a rally model.

Last year, on the morning of my little brother's wedding, I went to one of my favorite car shows that I had been going to since my Dad took me there as a kid. I thought it was a sign that he was looking down from above, to see the two cars that always make me think of him, sitting there on the show field, just a few cars down from mine.
