Take her to a store and find something small and manageable. A reliable .22 will protect her. In a gun fight there nobody takes out a micrometer to see who wins the size contest. besides, it has to be something she can hide, access, and shoot easily. Just make sure it has an intelligent safety. Small guns can be very dangerous if the safety isn't designed right.

I have been shot at dozens of times. Seriously. I have a single bullet hole in/out scar from getting hit once. That hit was from a shooter above me in a second or third story window (never identified the shooter). Once I was shot at from across the hood of a car, five rounds from six feet away, and every slug missed me. I wasn't shooting back either. Thug punk kids don't have access to shooting ranges.

Personally, I like the feel of a .45 1911 due to my stubby fingers. I can't hit a barn with a Glock.

I've been out of the repo business for many years now. So i'm not to current on the threats out here, but from things I hear, there are more guns than ever on the street.

A buddy was shot leave'n a bar late one nite.
Guy just walked up to him, raised gun, and fired 1 shot into his left upper shoulder.
It exited thru his right kidney!
Spent 3 days in the hospital.
