Unexpectedly the local Pontiac Network became aware of an engine that demanded a review...seems original owner had engine built in Mid 90's never fired ... kept in office as show/conversation piece...waiting to go in his 70 GTO...when economy crashed he sold/traded it for services to his business to a HVAC contractor ...who held on to it till up to this week (pending divorce). I didn't plan on needing anything like this!!! but seller was needing fast cash.... I made a low/not needing it offer ...now it is "home".

Fall 2013 engine stand/dyno the new Motor ... spring 2014 swap into 63 and enjoy ...determine if I will keep whole thing or sell the top end!
Here is what we know about the engine: (all new stuff never fired)
73 455 .30 over ...forged KB 8.0:1 pistons, Eagle H beam rods AP Bolts, treated/balanced crank/assembly, Milodon pan, ARP studded mains, gear drive, solid hyd blower cam, Roller rockers, MSD Pro billet dist, M/T valve covers polished, alum water pump, Hooker super comp headers, Dryer 6-71 supercharger with belt drive, (2) 750 edelbrock carbs; Edelbrock 87cc heads (supposedly $1,300 in machine work and valves/hardware), To Hats Hillborn type and a Mr Gasket....also a nice engine stand included ... all for $4K
Pulled pan and covers ...& BlueGhoast and I confirmed it is all there!
Builder/Owner claim it should make 650hp on pump gas easily! (says he had 18K invested)
I have never owned anything like this...should be fun...now I need to find a suitable hood to cut and a set of Maddog round tube headers for the 63 + carb linkage too!
I hope the TCI 700R4 and rear end will hold up on street tires! ...looking forward to 2014 already!

What in heaven is a "solid/hyd cam"?????
It looks like a nice project and I wish you well with it BUT, that looong blower snout scares me. It is not a good, strong set up at all. That is putting a lot of stress on your crank snout. I hope you are underdriving it and it is just a putter street car. If you decide to get serious with that set up ad go to overdriven, get that blower belt closer to the block you will be breaking parts.
People in the know on that stuff will see the set up and know it is not serious but, more for looks. Not saying it will not be fast that way, just saying it is not right and can likely break things . Also, is your crank snout machined? and are you running 2 keys? Hope so.
