Like I said the Tundra is my first choice but it will come down to finances and the availabilty of a reg cab and short box. Been looking at local Toyota dealers inventory and have yet to see one. Hopefully I can order one. Still it has to be in my price range. The company I work for has a fleet of Tacoma's so I'm aware of their longevity. Since the truck will be an extra vehicle I only average 6-7 thousand miles per year. So any truck I buy will be a rust bucket ( thanks to living in good old NYS.) long before the rest of the truck goes.

It is a matter of personal preference. I work in a repair facility that services all makes. If you buy any make full sized pickup truck and take care of it with proper servicing, you will get as much use out of it as you want or need. If you abuse it by not doing regular oil changes, cleaning the undercarraige, tune ups, etc, you wont get excellent service out of anything. It is all about how you take care of it.
FYI the 4.7 in the new truck (yes even as big as it is compared to the previous model,) will give you a lot better real world gas mileage than the 5.7. It will still have adequate power for most situations.
