I mentioned I saw a base 400 Bird with this in 1982 , This supports that.. That said, as RA111 has said, doesnt make it the last word..
This mentions models in the trim section, doesnt exclude the std, or Esprit in the single part number either.
Pontiac Marketing was gearing for a Firebird 400, and with good reason, they had a successful one already.
