Some of them can be pretty dang snug in the channel, especially if the glass has never been taken out. You should not have to remove the vent window frame. Whatever you do, do NOT pry along the edge of the channel or you will be inviting disastrous results. If you are going to try to pry it loose to keep from having to remove the whole shebang (starting with the window fuzzies), do so only from the end of the window with a narrow flat screwdriver working it along a little bit at a time. Give it a good long soak with WD-40 or P-Blaster prior to doing so.
