Mark it is true that new pumps have different material composition for alcohol
laced fuels, but as a practical matter I know of guys who have driven their GTO's
for years with old pumps and alcohol gas without a failure, so I would expect the nos pump
to last for a considerable length of time, and of course it would be beneficial for point
judging to avoid a deduction. I do recommend that carbs be kitted with the blue alcohol
resistant accelerator pump rubber that is standard in all new carb kits if that hasn't been done
and you are using ethanol. All my cars have stainless steel gas tanks which eliminate the problem
with gas tank corrosion from the ethanol, but I wonder if they count off in point judging for stainless
tanks as they look much nicer than factory.
