I had a freshly done rebuilt carb I put on my 69 two years ago, after a few weeks of driving I had an issue where it wouldn't start cold, crank and crank and found setting the choke with a gas pedal flooring wasn't shooting any juice down the throat. Took the carb apart and found that new blue accelerator pump seal popped off the plastic. I reseated it, got a week out of the carb and it did it again. Got pissed, pulled apart my brand new carb again, stole an old original accelerator pump from a carb that's been sitting for years and swapped it in (couldn't just change the diaphragms because the plastic was different from the repop compared to the original) Anyways, I haven't had a problem since. I haven't had a fuel pump failure on any of my cars since this new crap gas came around a few of those pumps are easily 20 years old. The only problem I've had was with the new blue seal being crap so I'm not sold on the new gas eating old rubber thing I hear consistently and actually had a problem with the "fix" with those new blue acc pump seals which I now call "Crap!"
