The 3M product will not adhere the sheet metal to the hood bracing. Read the description of the 3M product--it's very specific about what the product is intended for--it's not an adhesive. Windshield urethane is a very strong adhesive that works perfectly for securing your sheet metal to the hood bracing. I don't believe there is another product more suitable for this fix--at least none that is so easily available, economical, and easy to use.
