I think the demand of R-12 has lessened, so the price has come down a bit. I have been consistently buying the small 12-16 oz. cans for 15-20 bucks a pop. I purchased several cans at both Carlisles I attended this year. Around here, R-134A is selling for 10-15 bucks a 12 oz. can, so not much cost difference there, and R-12 is the preferred refrigerant in the cars it was designed for.
