That brings back memories for me too. We didn't have a hobby shop....just the five and dime but it was 75% airplane models for me and the rest car models. Revell for aircraft and Monogram for the cars.
I was as much in love with the box art as the models and kept them for years....
Some of these kits are $27~$30 now. I used to buy them for $5 or $6 even up into the 1980s when I was full grown.
