crankcase ventilation
Pontiac didn't start venting the crankcase pressure through the PCV valve from the valve covers until the late 60's, if I recall correctly. '61 tempest 4 cylinder engines still used a draft tube. In '63 the PCV was placed in the pushrod cover. I think '62 models did, also. Haven't ever run across a set up like this '62 convertible has. It was either a very early attempt at replacing the old draft tube, a "California emission" only set up, or a previous owner modification. Couldn't find any mention of a valve cover PCV valve in the Chassis manual. The valve cover doesn't look correct, either.
