The reason for the crushing was due to the failure of the 72 cars to meet the 73 5-mph bumper and emissions regulations. We all know how the 72 inner fender bracing and rad supports are different than the 73 units.
All those polyethylene valances, broken well before their time...or at least a couple hours before their time.
