Simply put, you take the thickness of the drum backing plate; .130", and deduct from the bracket/backing plate of the disc setup, .380", which arrives at .250". This spaces the axle mounting flange by .250" creating the end play. The gap has to be filled, hence the shims.

I just watch Powerblock....well now called Powernation today and the "Detroit Muscle" episode in which they're modifying a TA I'm supposed to win......well maybe.Anyway I found it interesting they were adapting a set of rear disc brakes to the 8.5 rear.They used a saetup from98-02 Camaros and as they prepared to put on the mounting plate they showed using a 1/8" spacer.....(not 1/4") for taking out the axle slack.That was a c-clip axle.Can't say why or if that would work,.......suppose i'll just have to wait till I win the car when they give it away......... uh I hope
