The spacer is just to align or center the rotor in the caliper abutment bracket. I am running the ls rears. The rotor is not perfectly center but it does not need to be either since the calipers float.

As long as the pads easily ride in the machined part of the abutment bracket close is good enough. The pads should still wear evenly.

As far as axle end play it is what it is unless you want to play with different c clips and such. I am running a detroit trutrak that has a "button" that you wedge between the axles to eliminate play. Per their tech line I welded mine up thicker and machined back to flat. I have to have two buddies pull on both axles while I wedge the button in there now. I get about .005 play if I remember on the axles now.
