What do 1/4 times have to do with determining what a "real" GTO is? The GTO wasn't the fastest car in the world, or the fastest car in Detroit. In fact, it wasn't even the fastest car available from Pontiac between 1967-1974.
There were tens of thousands of 1964-1972 GTO's built that were slower than 1973-1974 GTO's.
