I'm not terribly sure there's much difference between the 17's and 11's. i have a set of untouched 17's and they have 83.5 cc chambers
There's been so few people fool around w/ 350's that there's not as much common knowledge about 350's (and 350 parts)as there are 400's and 455's...
There's another 350 thread raging on here, 16's 62's 48's or 12's would make slightly over 9:1 compression.
Pontiac Larry will not steer you wrong...
I have 11's on an essentially stock 1970 350 in my car now. I freshened it up in 1992 as a temporary (the things STILL in my car, but runs, O.K.) engine...The advertised 8.8:1 compression ratio, I believe is bogus...I believe closer to 8:1...who knows. I have run as much as 44 degrees total timing, can't get the thing to think about pinging, and I advanced the cam 2 degrees when I installed it!
1968fbird, what's your location???
Sounds like you are building a keeper 350 engine. Get the heads you need for this engine, without compromising, and your 350 will run surprisingly well!!!
