Here I cleaned everything, deburred the inside of the housing, Sanded and Scotch-Brite the edges. Scotch-Brite the gears, and sanded the cover plate flat on the granite slab. Also sanded the top and bottom of the housing on the granite slab to insure flatness, and also get the cover plate to gear clearance down some since it was just a tad excessive. It had .0025"-.003", and I took it down to .0015"-.002". There was a .0005" difference between the heights of the 2 gears. I removed the 5/8" check ball and installed a 9/16" ball in it's place. I also had to install a 1/16" thick washer behind the spring to get the pressure back to where it would have been. This 9/16" ball gives more room for debris to pass by without jamming the ball open. With the 5/8" ball in place, there is only about .014" clearance for debris to pass by, That's not much room, so the stock size ball tends to get stuck open at times and cause lack of oil pressure.
