Well I am pretty psyched tonight. I scored a set of NOS bumper guards (sorry if the under bidder is reading this) and they arrived today. The good news is that they are NOS and the rubber is perfect. The bad news is that the past 42 years has not been kind to the chrome and they will need a trip to the chrome shop. The guards on the Black Car have great chrome, but really bad rubber, so there might be a switch in the future. There is a really good rubber shop in the area and I am fairly certain they will be able to produce or procure for me rubber strips that closely replicate the originals. If so, I will have an extra set of guards for the shelves or for barter. We'll see. If they are able to closely recreate the rubber strips I will get extras and let everyone know. If someone already has a source, please speak up.
While I am at it, I want to replace the bumper.
I am looking for a good bumper core that can be rechromed. If anyone has or can provide the source for a solid bumper core I would be really appreciative. Here's some shots of the guards. Please let me know if you have a source for the rubber strips or a good core bumper. Thanks.
