Yea.. here is the quote from the Quartz clock site:
"Once completed, the clock will hook up to the car’s 12V battery just like it did before. Our quartz movement uses 10-11 milliamps (instead of the 3 amps that the original movements used). If your clock has a second hand, it will sweep around the dial instead of ticking."
So yes, the original clocks seconds hands do tick tick tick and quartz is a smooth movement. I have seen many of these old mechanical clocks get stuck on a tick .. Bob it is your car you will do what you want to... but for a small cost you will never look back on that clock..many of us here have these conversions, just a way to bring that function of your dash up to more current technology..
