Traditions are changed all the time. Traditionally, the Indy 500 was always run on Memorial Day proper (May 30th) regardless of the day of the week through 1970. Then in 1971 - 72 it was run on Saturday of the Memorial Day weekend. Since 1974 it has been scheduled for the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.

So you say that they intentionally start the race 3 wide because of tradition even though you claim it is too dangerous to restart a race 2 wide? They intentionally put the drivers at risk because of tradition - but they change the traditional date of the race for a whim?

You can't have it both ways.

And they DO start 2-wide in IndyCar (do you even WATCH IndyCar?). The drivers complained. It's too dangerous in an open-wheeled car to run wheel-to-wheel on restarts, but they start and restart 2-wide at most tracks to appease the fans. I'm not sure why you're fixated on this little insignificant piece of trivia, but you keep bringing it up.

First of all - where did I ever say anything about STARTING an IndyCar race 2 wide? Never happened. I specifically said restart and was referring to the Indy 500 in my post when I commented about restarting do.

Secondly - as you brought up - the start an IndyCar race 2 wide, so there is no reason why they can't "RESTART 33 cars on a 2.5 mile track double file".

I would even accept a single file restart (to appease you) if they would at least try and have the cars in the same area code. As I posted earlier - the cars are so strung out that it makes a mockery of a restart.

I rarely bother watching IndyCar racing. It's not a competitive series IMHO. I find it boring.
