If you use an OE style tray, the later one I believe, it holds the lower tube in place, and you use the tube that doesn't have the bolt-to-cap bracket.

If you use the lower tube that doesn't have the strap, make sure you have a new tray. The OE ones have a tendency to crack at the point the tube passes through.

I've seen when using the bolt on lower tube that was bent, after a number of stick inserts and removals, the lower tube bends out of the way, and you won't be able to get the stick in anymore.

Just be careful whichever tube you use, make sure the stick moves smoothly in and out, and don't ever force it in.
