Yes, bearing shell falls out of the cap when disassembled. When the bearing cools, it shrinks in at the parting line.
Using a Peterson R4 oil pump...well within it's capability. It can free-flow 42 gpm with the -20 suction line that we used. When we switched to the dry sump system, they stressed that the flow capacity was directly (and dramatically) related to the suction line size.
