We have yet to see a Pontiac only builder have a result like this in EM.
Funny how it is so..

When you specialize in an area, are you not supposed to be better?
LOL. It's so funny when I read things like this. Yes, all engines do have their idiosyncrasies, but the basic theory is the same. I've been building Buick engines for almost 30 years yet I am not known as a "Buick" engine builder. I have always read that to really do a Buick right you have to be a "Buick" builder.

It's complete B.S. The Buick is an engine the same as any other. There are some in the industry that would have you believe that only they have the magic touch to make your (insert brand name) run but in reality either you are an engine builder or you are not.

When we decided to do Engine Master's and Dr. Tom specified it had to be a Pontiac, I really started looking at what was available. What impressed me was that there were a lot of advantages to the Pontiac platform for this competition. There were some disadvantages too (mainly the pushrod location and the exhaust port design) but that is what we had to work with.

All I want you to do is remember that there isn't any "secret" camshaft or tricks that you can apply to a Pontiac that don't apply to other engine brands as well. If there is a vendor telling you that only their "secret" will make big power I would look elsewhere because it's marketing hype and not factual.

I will go one further. I recently rebuilt a 427 big block Chevy for a customer. I made NO CHANGES to the combination other than I put it together right. He has been racing his Chevelle for years and it's now .3 seconds and 4 mph faster than it's ever been. You can read about this engine on my Facebook page (Throttle's Performance) but my point is that some people understand what makes an engine tick and some don't.
