If you are not really stuck on originality, you should consider putting a 389 or 400 from '65 and up in it. A 400 especially would save you a TON of $ and hassle. If you did not do that, the next simpler way to go is to do a factory T-10. Yes, this is not the toughest trans on the planet, but it is far easier to mate up than jumping through all the hoops with the other options. Just something to consider before you get too far in.
