It's been awhile since I have posted anything here. I have been going 200 mph since the Pontiac Nationals. Anyway I thought I would post some pic's of the engine we are assembling for our test mule and get everyone up to speed. I also have some pic's of the intake and exhaust gaskets. I am not as far along as I would like, but I am trying to make sure everything I do is going to be able to be duplicated by the end user. The R&D part of these projects is a time killer for sure, but I feel it is my responsibility not the customers. Now if someone wants to push the envelope and do something out of the ordinary, I say go for it. Below are the engines spec's for our initial testing.
DCI RA5 480 cu.in. Test mule spec's:
4.190" bore JE light weight pistons dished for 11-1 compression
4.350" stroke Bryant Billet crank
6.850" rods Crower steel
Mahle low drag ring package
King engine bearings 2" rods, 2.5" mains
Cloyes billet timing set
LSM custom hydraulic roller cam 250 @ .050 int, 259 @ .050 exh 109 LS installed at 107
Hydraulic limited travel roller lifters
Luhn Performance cam bearings
Luhn Performance oil pump
Trend double taper 3/8" pushrods
Harland Sharp shaft mount roller rockers 2.0-1 ratio

DCI RA5 heads flow 420+ cfm int @ .700", 280+ cfm @ .700"exh
DCI RA5 cast intake
REV 5/16" stem stainless steel valves 2.300" intake, 1.68" exhaust
DCI stepped,tri-y,merge collector custom built headers. 2.125" to 2.25" into a merge collector that exits with a 2.5" pipe into a 2.75" merge collector expanding out to a 3.5" exit.
Induction we will be trying two different styles, Port fuel injection then a single 1000 cfm carb.
MSD ignition Distributor, 7AL box, and matching coil
As you can tell this is not an all out build, but more of a real street build. I want the engine to run on pump gas, idle well in traffic, and make a broad torque curve. I am going to push the engine once we get a good base line, but for now I need a entry level starting point. This will be the type of engine I would build for a mostly street driven car that gets occasionally drag raced.
