I can tell you EXACTLY what the Grand Prix car is doing.
"Here Maurice Trintignant, on Highway I-15 heading south coming out of Riverside on his way to the track in a Cooper-Maserati. Maurice finished 15th in the race." - Along For The Ride
They were granted special compensation by the Governor of California because Riverside was incomplete at the time and they didn't have garage facilities or something along those lines.
