First make sure that it's the rear main seal and not the oil pan leaking. If it's the pan sometimes just tightening the bolts helps. If it's the rear main seal than the only way to do the job correctly is to put the engine on a stand and turn it upside down. It would be extremely difficult to do the job with the engine still in the car. With the engine out you can take your time changing the seal and also installing the oil pan so it doesn't leak.
