What happened in upstate NY was a complete accident that claimed someones life. There was no skirmish on track between Tony and Ward prior to the incident. Ward thought he had been wronged and set out to vindicate something that had no merit. Now Stewart is in Wards role thinking WTF did he hit me for and reacts. Tony however does not walk out into traffic for his retaliation. He stays inside the car and hammers the guy who ran into him. So if Ward was right in what he did, then Tony ought to be right in his reaction.

In the heat of the moment the furthest thing from Tony's thoughts were the accident with Ward Jr. He reacted automatically the same way someone reacts on track in an emergency situation. You don't sit there and contemplate what your going to do, there is not time to review in your mind, adrenalin rushes and instinct takes over.

One difference is there was actually physical contact between BK and Tony's car. In Ward's case there was no contact, he was POed that Tony slid up in front of him and took his line away causing him to hit the cushion and spin out as well as flatten the RR tire. He could have backed off since Ward was out of Tony's line of vision, he however chose not to and ended up spinning out. The car in the front has the right to use the track however he wants to and the car following the lead car has to act accordingly. If you chose not to get out of the throttle then you pay the price for not taking evasive action.

Tony has said in many interviews when there were on track skirmishes that he had that coming and expected he'd be paid back. This time he had no role whatsoever and wasn't expected to be run into while sitting stopped after the race concluded. In other words Tony owns up to having wronged someone else on track, unlike many people today he is accountable for his actions.

BK, in his interview said "Tony had every right to be POed, I'd have been POed too if I were Tony". That comes directly from the instigator himself. I see no reason that Hamlin and Kenseth weren't included in the disciplining actions. They were as reckless as the 2 that did get disciplined, as well as being detrimental to racing and NASCAR, IMO.

How many people on this post have said that the race Saturday night was exciting to watch. Looked like old times. Well ya can't have no action and drama without being detrimental to racing and NASCAR. So which is it going to be? Ya can't have it both ways, either it's going to be a throw down or they all act like sissies. From reactions in this post most want the fighting and drama. Not one mention about the cars all looking the same, and longing for the "good ole days of NASCAR".......LOL
