Have you checked around in old files or boxes to see if there's any documentation still existing for your dad's old car? My parents admittedly were packrats, but in the course of cleaning out the house after they passed we found registration cards, loan papers, etc. for pretty much every car my dad ever owned, going all the way back to a '32 Ford he bought in 1937.
