It's very stable. Most of the weight of the rear end is from the axle tube on towards the pinion yolk. The pipe spacer in the picture of the dolly fits inside the Chevy u-joint yolk area and is held in place by the tabs of the yolk and the u-joint bolts. Since the Pontiac does not have inside yolk tabs and yolk is wider than a Chevy, I cut the spacer a little longer in order to securely clamp it to the yolk. I use either the pipe spacer for the Pontiac or Chevy, slid over the top of the threaded rod, as a handle to move the dolly around. I had all the parts for this on hand so it did not cost anything to build. The next dolly that I build will have larger diameter wheels, adjustable axle tube rests that raise and lower with lock pins, and the wheels under the axle tube moved an inch or so to the rear to lower the chance of tipping when moving. The hardest part to making this was fitting the American size cold roll pin into the metric hole of the jack - weld, grind and file, weld, grind and file (again), and repeat as necessary. I'll have one of my friends machine the pin to size next time. Just throwing the pics out there as an idea for others. Thanks for all of the comments.
