Troy, try and forgo the hood emblem for a while and see how you and others like it. I had a 65 GTO hood on my 66 Tempest Custom, with added 66 GTO grills, and I actually thought it looked better without the emblem. But that's me. Tho if yours is to be show correct, forget what I said.

One thing I hate with the emblem is the duster gets caught in it, as does polishing cloths and rags when you wipe down the hood.
