Technology has also gotten lost (forever). I've seen it with capital equipment being destroyed, capabilities lost, and organazations scattered. And yes the dumb these days think they are wiser, with doing "firsts" in tweaks and sorts.
Oh if we had continuity in development pursuits, todays results would look different, and be different. Perhaps better. Perhaps pigeon-holed.
