your latch is gummy and the release springs are sticking. Open the door, spray a ton of wd40 into the latch bolt slot where the two U shaped arms grab around the door striker. Then use your thumb or a screw driver to snap them closed as if you just closed the door, then work the handle and keep hitting the latch mech with the WD 40 and snapping the latches open and closed, eventually it'll work it self smooth. make sure to snap the latches all the way to the closed position when you're doing this. They grab at two depths. (think of it like you're closing the door with barely any force and how they'll snap, not allowing the door to pull back open without the button, but yet not having the door closed completely) DO NOT FORGET TO MAKE SURE THE LATCHES ARE BACK TO OPEN AFTER DOING THIS! you don't want to bend the striker when you try closing the door and the latch is already closed because you forgot to open it a final time! (yes, I speak from experience!)
