No question the A6's make a mess. I finished a resto in 2008 with a NOS A6 that was still under pressure when I removed the rear shipping cap. I leak tested the system before charging & had no measurable loss after 2 weeks. So I charged it & the A/C worked awesome. Then, After a couple months & a few very short runs I found oil getting sprayed. Pretty sure it seeps out onto the clutch pulley when not running & gets flung around next start up. very disappointing.

I ended up drawing the system into a slight vacuum & sealed it up. Non-functioning now.
This picture was from before the hoses went on, but same issue you'll possibly be having if you charge it.

The guard will keep it off some the hood & inner fender, but the rest is going to get nailed. I had it all over the bright yellow paint. took a while to get everything clean as a whistle again.
