40 at 3k is good to go, general rule of thumb is 10 psi per 1000 RPM, to give you an idea. And you will see a dip at higher RPM when the check ball unseats. Could be you are cruising right at where the check ball is unseating too.

Good info there. I was wondering why my oil pressure sometimes dipped slightly at highway speeds. (3.73 rear end)
