FYI: Original Discwasher Replacement Fluid Suggestions

Last year I bought an original Discwasher cleaning brush with an original red bottle of cleaning solution. The bottle was half full, and in combination with the brush worked great. I bought the new RCA solution D4 bottle, and am not happy with the results. Can anyone recommend a solution I can use with my Discwasher brush? Also, are original Discwasher Solution bottles still available? Thank you for your help."

A1: "You can make your own solution with a mixture of distilled water and isopropyl(60/40 or 70/30). Records in need of a heavy duty cleaning require a different process than the discwasher, see record cleaning threads.
The fluid with the discwasher system is more for breaking the static cling of dust and paper particles. Do as others and myself do: hold your liquid cleaner in a small spray bottle(eye glass cleaning variety) and just spritz the brush to lightly dampen."
A2: "My nickel's worth. I like to add the recommended amount of Kodak Photo-Flo 200 (so that's 1:200) because it breaks down surface tension, is a non-ionic detergent (helps promote even drying and prevents droplets on the record surface) and a small 8oz. bottle should last half your lifetime! Photo-Flo also reduces static-build-up and dust attraction (very well indeed on film!). Personally, I always thought D-4 fluid was slightly diluted window cleaner! (My nose is a pretty good phase chromatagraph!) I can't say that if it was, that was "BAD", I just never thought it was "ideal" for "non-grungy" LP's. It did do a very good job of cleaning smoker's LP's."
