Ya know, I'm going to throw more initial timing at it. I feel it's not as quick as could be with the vacuum advance disconnected.
And today I realized it started fine with the timing advanced and only gave me any resistance when the initial timing was all the way up around 20° after I adjusted the notch plate on the vacuum advance and before I reset the initial timing.
I'm going to start again and see how good I can get it without any vacuum advance as cliff suggested this morning.
I do have a mini starter. I think the Last time I encountered hard starts my battery may not have been fully charged like it is now.
