I have done that too with a proper strength nylon strap. The jack now has something to work against.
I do not see a coil spring compressor in your spring. At the minimum you should have a piece of ready rod and a nut on each end to keep the spring from flying out of the control arm if the jack were to slip off the lower control arm.
