I run into the same issues, when the air is good and tracks are cool/cold the engine makes more power and there is less traction. So the car will slip some on the launch and worse short times, but still runs good MPH.

If you can bring it all together and hook on the days with better weather you will be rewarded with better runs.

It also really helps when possible to run with or follow the "race" cars instead of getting behind a bunch of street tire cars that are digging up the track and leaving oil and water on it.

The real cure is to mount up a good set of slicks for those days instead of DOT's......Cliff
