You don't have to have any. I have an occasional bad pressing, but off the top of my head, I can think of only two. The rest are pop, tick and click free. I hear more tube rush than I do surface noise.

Manufactures of records in the 70's and 80's used cheap recycled vinyl and the result is fine particles in your pressing which causes pops and clicks. Just another example of trying to increase profits at the expense of the consumer.
