Yes, upon further checking, the 255-70r15's rubbed on both left and right fenderwells. Even though the passenger side was approx. 1/2" toward the rear of the car, both sides were a problem. To refresh, those tires were 29.1" in diameter.

We gave up and took the tires back to the dealer and had him put 255-60r15's on the 7" Rally II's. These are 27" in diameter with a little more than 9" tread on the ground. These tires clear everything by more than 1"---fenderwells, springs, exhaust, and inner fenders.

As I said earlier, the car has 4.11 gears, so we will be at 3,500 rpm at 68.4 mph. Not as nice as the 29.1" tires, but tolerable.
