Brad I understand what your saying & I have read all the posts & info about the LS series engine , but when I see an article about engines & it says right in there the info is directly from chevy sources. I know the engine was a clean slate block but Chevy does claim that this engine is theirs. In fact the early LS engines had the bow tie on the valve covers. Also I do understand that the engines are built at the GM power train Div. so I do acknowledge it's not in the Chevy plant , but ???? Plus I do know & have said it to before that to each there own when they build their cars , but for me it is a shame to put the LS/Chevy engine in a real Pontiac. The 3rd & 4th gen. birds no big deal as they are already just Camaro's with a slightly different skin. But it just seems just a shame to do that to a real Pontiac. It would be different if you couldn't get a real Pontiac engine any more but still want to drive your car, but there are still lots of Pontiac engine around.
