Fridge, washer and dryer I have no issue being slightly used if it saves me 50-70%. Hot water heater, and AC units, I want the new top of the line with max warranty. Hot water heaters because Ive heard of them exploding, and AC units, because I dont like being hot and want to be able to call someone to fix it for free for as long as possible.

Scratch and dent section is a good idea btw

Oh yeah, it is an issue. Just look at the reviews for LG, GE etc. Many, many issues with new appliances.

Really wanted a Kitchen Aid (made by WHP), but nobody in my area carries more than one model of them (Sears). Will try for scratch and dent somewhere. Can not wait for the next model year unfortunately. Would gladly wave cash at a non big box store. That has not worked for me at those before. Plus, the big box stores all have to order any of the ones I was interested in. Selection is minimal.

This is almost as much of a PITA as figuring out what light bulb to buy. And paying for it.
