Well, I spent $$ rebuilding the 400 in my 74 Grand Am, and was pretty happy with the results. I just finished a rebuild of my 6.0 L LS2 for my '05 GTO, and I can tell you I would LOVE to put that engine in my Grand Am. Since the GA is not exactly a collector car, I would not think it would ruffle too many feathers. Fact of the matter is the LS engines have benefitted from decades of development and improvement.

Dollar for dollar, the only way I could make the kind of horsepower my 400 makes in my LS2 is if I were to pull 3 spark plug wires out.
