Actually it's the reverse of the '1' add '2'.
If the trim tag (Fisher Body) reads ST 73 and TR 233 under it (you would drop the first number (2) and add a number (1) to the end of the trim code) to get 331 which would be the std. Saddle in '73 for Firebird.

John, I don't know where your early '74 numbers came from. All my cars relate to the 2nd set of '74 numbers.
