A tale of two Miles Davis Porgy & Bess albums.
Right: Original 1959 pressing "deep groove" - Six Eye label. Recorded in mono. Nice album and needle care instruction on the inner sleeve. Interesting how these were advertised as "unbreakable vinyl" as opposed to fragile 78-rpm records which were more common until this time.
Left: Mid-70s in stereo.
The original has much better sparkle & sound. Vinyl seems to be twice as heavy and thick as the later release. Perhaps something was lost when it was transcribed to stereo.
